EdgeRouter Max Duration (ms)

Determines the maximum amount of time that the edge router should run before stopping. Longer run times will degrade performance but improve layout quality. This timing is not guaranteed, but the routing algorithm will attempt to stay below the limit while producing valid output.

The modeling diagrams (Accelerator, schema diagrams, business diagrams) route edges around nodes for readability. A routing run that exceeds this budget still returns its result, but further automatic re-routing is disabled for that diagram instance to keep the surface responsive. A non-numeric value disables edge routing entirely.

When to Change This Setting

Keep the default 5000 for typical models. Raise it when large diagrams are worth a longer wait for cleanly routed edges; lower it when interaction responsiveness on large diagrams matters more than edge layout quality.
